Der adjustment problem

    I was out riding today, and had a minor malfunction:

    I was going down a hill in the big ring, and as I started up the next
    hill, shifted down from the big ring. When I did, the chain jumped off
    the bottom jockey wheel on the rear der. I've also noticed that the
    chain runs noisy sometimes, usually when I'm in the bigger sprockets.

    I'm assuming my front der is needs adjustment, but I suppose it could be
    the rear also.

    I just had the bike overhauled (stripped down, new cables, etc.), so I
    think the LBS didn't get back together quite right. I plan on taking it
    back and have them adjust it, but I would like to figure out how to fix
    these kinds of things myself.

    about derailleur adjustments.
