  1. Well, with the offer letter in hand I begin my quest for the west.
Officially, I start on 6/26 so now I have to get things in order here
and find a cheap place to live near the office. In order for this to
work until my family comes out, I'll have to bike or walk. I currently
spend over $700 a month to commute to work. I figure that will easily
    pay for my rent.

So, Colorado bound. What's next? For at least the next 6-9 months I'll
be on my own. At the very least it means a daily kitchen pass. Plenty
of time to acclimate to altitude and try to get at least half as fit as
the locals. Time to start plotting some local routes and find some
people to ride with at least for the first few times on new trails.
Maps, maps, maps. I have to get some maps!

I suppose I should be scared. Moving my family 2100 miles is a daunting
    task.

Did you say your family was not coming out for a year? School is out in just
a few weeks. Why the wait?

    Congrats!
Moving sucks, but you're headed in the right direction.
I assume you know about the Jeffco Parks, if not:
    http://jeffco.us/openspace/index.htm
    Lots of riding there.

Family obligations that require my two boys stay local until next
December. Then it becomes a choice of moving them mid-year.

Yup! Exactly why Golden is topping the list of house hunting.

OK, now I'll say it. Congratulations!
I almost took a job with MCI near Golden once.

    Maybe see ya around...

Yeh, Vail will be self paid or camped. No big deal now that it's my
backyard. I am still in shock over this. I said I'd be going west and
    I did it!

I'll be in PHX the same time as last year for the same conference. That
won't change. There will be a little traveling, though not as much as
the last job. Who needs to travel when you've got Moab at 6 hours,
Fruita at 5, and New Mexico at 8. I haven't looked further yet.

Ha! How about an apartment right at the University! I'll make my own
"Girls Gone Wild" videos, though the ASU girls are much more party hearty.
