  1. I have noted lately that despite my best efforts ARBR is withering on the
vine. Newbies now ask questions and do not get answers. Where are all the
helpful regulars that used to infest this group. Yes, Tom Sherman has left
us and as near as I can figure it out he is not on any other newsgroups.
Maybe he is on BROL? Tom was always very helpful to newbies and gave them
the very best advice. But are there not any other Tom Shermans on ARBR?

It is not my function to help newbies as I am too high minded for that. I am
here to critique anyone who gets out of line. I am very good at this and
have been doing it for the past 3 years. But that is no reason to get all
down and out. In order to be critiqued by me you have to be a real idiot.
Thankfully I have noted that all the worst idiots are long gone. Most of the
rest of us that remain are more or less sane. So I urge you to answer the
newbies. I NEVER interfere with that sort of thing.

Mr. Dolan, in my opinion, you are what ruins ARBR. All of your trash /
garbage posts turn people off. If you wish to have ARBR turn into a
worth while NG again, try cutting back on your worthless ramblings.

Perhaps Tom has just grown weary of you like so many others have. If

See Ed, I told you that you were cluttering up the landscape.

I've got a challenge for you, Ed.

You've posted an awful lot in your 3 years, but it is extremely
repetitive. How about for 100 days you limit your posting to one
message per day. I am only talking about ARBR, I don't particularly
care how many posts to the other cycling groups, the folks in them
seem to, for the most part, understand filters. If you made your
normal amount of posts to the other groups, and only one to ARBR, you
might see your effect more clearly.

I am greatly beloved by all the denizens of ARBR. Without me the group would
not survive a single day. However, I agree with you that I should cut back
some. I will only look in on the newsgroups every third day from now on.
After all, it is not like I will be missing anything, that is for sure.

Do a search on the Johnny NoCom [censored] from two winters ago if you would like
to become enlightened on what happened to ARBR. Or better yet, just go back
and look at the postings on the Google website for ARBR from that time
period. I will be looking forward to your report to the group on what you
    discover.

The bottom line is that no one gave a good g.d. about ARBR and so I decided
not to give a good g.d. about it either.

    Indiana Mike

I have decided to limit myself to looking in on the groups about once every
3 days at which times I will lambaste everyone who has had the effrontery to
disagree with me about anything. That is the way of us Great Ones. It is my
karma to be ever afflicted with all the idiots, morons and imbeciles of
Usenet, but I will NEVER give in to them. Nay, I will go to my grave in the
firm conviction that I have always been right about everything and everyone
else has always been wrong about everything. Like I said, that is the way of
    us Great Ones.

ARBR would be improved enormously if everyone would simply praise me to high
heaven and tell me how Great I am - or at least have the good grace never to
disagree with me about anything. Then all would be peace and harmony on
    ARBR.

Not quite accurate, some are moderated. Though most of the moderated
ones die because of the lag induced by human moderation. There are one
or two exceptions, but at least one group works because everyone in the
group is a moderator. Sort of.

As a former moderator of misc.kids.moderated, I find the fate of that
newsgroup rather sad. It gets very little traffic compared to its
    unmoderated companion, misc.kids.

That's usually how it goes. Even if you have a good set of moderators,
or mods + robo-moderation, you cut into the potential number of people.
Any initial hurdle cuts down significantly on your population and hence
vitality. And then of course you have any problems that creep into your
moderation scheme wiping out your group.

    SCJ

Ah, sucky. Not quite orthagonal, but it is sad to see how often the
    equation holds true for:

    "Normal Person"
    +
    "Anonymity"
    +
    "Audience"
    =
    Total Jerk

Couldn't we just have a 'robo-monitor' and filter out some people who
never have anything useful to say? Start with Dolan. I doubt that there is
a single group without it's own dedicated jerks. SCJ should maybe be
monitored by the feds and stage periodic raids of the nazi [censored]. SCJM
sounds like they have found a club for themselves and anyone who disagrees
gets a hostile greeting, like if they dare not to be Jewish.

Has it ever occured to Bill Baka that maybe the Nazis and the Jews deserved
    one another?

What would make this group much more misc would be if we could somehow get

    types could understand it.

Keep up with the heavy duty thinking there Bill. We really need and desire
