  1. Well, apart from the wind.

Took #1 son on Igor to BB for an evenings hike. Back home then took
Rachel out for some proper on road cycle training. Much better than
expected with looking behind, picks everything up easily but very slow
and easily spoked by the passing traffic. More practice will be good.
She was quite upset because there were a couple of lads in the park
doing wheelies on their full sus MTB's and she couldn't even get her
    front wheel off the ground..
Then home, and swapping bikes again, off on Igor to collect #2 son.

Nearly finished the greenhouse. The frame is complete, just laying the
slabs for the floor. 60x90 slabs are somewhat weighty, especially when
they need to be hand carried up a significant flight of steps.

    Sounds like a good day.

I took my Year 4s out for their first on-road lesson. While
practising passing side roads we got caught out in an exceptionally
heavy downpour. The children suffered from cold hands, fortunately I
was able to produce 12 pairs of dry children's gloves from my Ortlieb
pannier, so they merrily continued cycling in the deluge. I dropped
off 12 soaked but happy children at school at 3.20.

I got home at about 5 and opened a letter from Thames Water explaining
the meaning of a drought order.

Experts are saying this is the wettest drought since records began.

My partner says we'll need sandbags if this drought continues much longer.

.... and its all due to Global Warming.

Based on history all they need to do now is appoint a Minister for
Drought and we'll be deluged for the rest of the summer ;-)

My first reaction on seeing the thread title was "was this in some less
    windy town?" ;-/
Had to go to Tescos for some muffin cases and it was Hard Work coming
back to the bridge. (The muffins are for the weekend's Scottish Go Open
which the local club's organising, which is why I haven't got any
pictures done for the cycling & child website done yet... Real Soon Now,
    once it's next week!)

Stamp down on the leading pedal in first gear while pulling up on the
bars. This works /very/ well on the Brom: challenged to do a wheelie by
some Harris lads I thought I could easily oblige, and did such a good
job I stepped off the bike backwards. Ooops! Kept everyone amused, at
    least...

Would be interesting to see what a good BMXer could do with a Brommie in
a skate park. You'd need to strap the rear triangle up but I suspect
you could do lots of the stunts on it. Would be real fun for some of
    those MTB shows.

They'd be better off on a Birdy, where the back's strapped up to start,
you've got a stiffer frame, better bar position /and/ full suspension.
But still folds up into a pretty nifty package.

Yes, but a Birdy is not British and there are not too many of them on
the streets compared with a Brommie. Its just the thought of the
quintessentially British Brommie being used as a stunt bike appeals to
me and it could be a great marketing ploy.
