I'm not extreme biker;-) I ride on roads, in the park and in the woods, you know btw trees, roots
etc. I just want to have good reliable bike in range $1200-$1500. I did buy Norco Pinnacle about 6
months ago, just to check if I will enjoy biking. So I like it and now I'd like have better bike. In
my internet search I narrowed to these 2 bicycles, unless someone has some suggestions for other

As others have alluded to, that doesn't mean squat! You've gotta ride what feels good for you.

That said, here is my experience which may or may not be applicable to *your* situation...

I, too, was torn between the Giant SE2, Trek 8500 and Specialized Stumpjumper. All are quality bikes
with good "ranking" or whatever...

And the Trek -- even though I own and still ride an old Trek 8700 -- just felt too big in the medium
frame size (I'm 5'10"😉 for whipping around on singletrack and stunts. Sure, I could have swapped out
the stem and seatpost to get the Trek to fit, but that would have been a hassle when there were two
other great bikes (Giant, Specialized) that I was looking at...

And both of these fit *great*, but...
1. The Giant had a little more standover height which I liked because I have short legs
2. The Duke fork on the Giant felt great

Of course, I discovered these things by going to the local bike shop and test riding the bikes
several times. And a test ride is not loops around the parking lot. Go hop curbs, climb grassy
hills, find tight obstacles to navigate; this tells you a lot about the bike.

Finally, the Giant was much less expensive than the Specialized. So, my decision was easy.

And after nearly a season on the Giant, I don't regret my purchase. I've had no mechanical problems
that weren't related to crashes.

Hope my experience guides you to go *test ride* the bikes in your *local bike shop* to find the best
bike for you.
