Coloring running shoes.

I found a very comfortable pair of black, athletic-type shoes at WalMart, for $10. They look just
like dress shoes, if you don't look too close. They're called "Silver Series", which I guess is a
synonym for "Brand X". I've worn them with a suit and no one noticed. Their design seems to be good,
as I've done some long, fast walking with them and no soreness resulted. I colored the edges of the
white soles with black liquid shoe dye, which also works to color mesh or leather upper sections of
other shoes. If you've been to any medical facility lately, you'll see that all personnel wear
running shoes, of all colors.

When I was in college, no one wore running shoes to class-----except me. Everyone acted shocked
that someone would violate an unwritten dress code about shoes in this manner. But, in a few
weeks, others appeared with running shoes and by the middle of the year, half the men and women
students were wearing them. They were called "track shoes" in those days, even though they had
no spikes. Sweatshirts to class soon followed and the grundge look swept the Univ. of Oregon
campus decades before it became big among Seattle ne'er do-wells. The preppy kind of frat-boy
look died a sudden death here, within months. This fit right in with the jogging revolution,
that started right here in Eugene.

You are following in the running shoe prints of George Sheehan and others who found that it
was easier to have a shoe repair guy dye their running shoes black than find a pair of
comfortable shoes.

Addidas has some nice thin soles shoes that once dyed look great and are very comfortable.

Check out the post on posture. I'd get a Mensendieck book for her. That and the dyed running shoes
will allow you to do the things you want when you are retired or better to say living the rest of
your lives re-creating.

Another option: look for shoes made for basketball officials. In my younger days I used to call
games and the shoes were pretty good. Obviously made for the stress of lots of wear and tear.

You should be able to find them pretty easily on through officating websites.

I didn't even know they did shoe dying. We have a shoe repair shop right around the corner, I'll
check that out.

No. Check out the post: Sitting in Balance. Standing in Balance. She was an MD and also sculptress
who created very simple exercises for someone recuperating from surgery or someone who was a world
class athlete. Back to form and style and doing movement properly.

Similar in correct movement and posture as shown in Ida Rolf's Structural Integration, or the
Feldenkrais Method or Alexander Technique.

My little play on if you are retired, it means you were tired the first time. So recreation is
re-creation.

Also I look at a person 40 to 60 hours/week job or work being the physical activity that one can use
when using the methods mentioned above to stay physically fit so that one can be maximally
physically acative during the years when they "retire."

Check out Road Runner Sports on line. I seem to recall them having some. If not there try some of
the on-line sporting goods stores. I know I have seen some cross trainers if not running shoes
(the cross trainers may be better for what she wants anyway. I have seen then only in the last
few months.

No wonder those older Age groupers are so tough. Spending 40-60 hrs training plus the 10-12

Yes, indelible black magic marker works just fine. I turned a fairly white pair yellow once with a

Yes, indelible black magic marker works just fine. I turned a fairly white pair yellow once with a
marker, too. -- Josh

We used to call those cheap shoes "Formosa Flyers".
