The volume of rainfall here over the weekend was in Biblical proportions.
It rained continuously from Saturday 4.00pm to Sunday 11.15pm.
There was no letup : 5.5 inches of rain fell and there were gales where I am.

I got out on the bike on Saturday but Sunday was a washout.

Was the weather bad where you are?

Hell of a hail storm Saturday evening! Ripped the leaves right off the trees but it passed quickly and Sunday was right nice. Sunny in the evening and warm.
It going to be in the 80's F this week. Summer is here.

I'm in the UK and definitely no riding today. Its been driving down with rain all day. Probably a good thing though as people are predicting serious droughts in southern GB over the summer.

It has just started raining in sydney as I read these posts.Is it a virus? 😄

There's more of the same on the way - started raining again here at 6.15am today and has been raining off and on since.
It's probably on the way over to you (not wishing it upon you!)

Got a whole week of rain predicted. And summer eights (rowing) starts on Wednesday, so they are going to have fun. I think my turbo trainer will be getting some heavy usage over the next few days.......

saturday evening was great, bright sunshine..

rain for the past two weeks and the coming week thought, at least its not cold..

just got news....spending this Christmas in sunny Calif again....yippee..

thats one less winter month for me to worry about...

This is the next 10 days here. I'll take it without complaint.

That's one advantage I have over the rest of you. The fact I have to cycle many miles to get to my boat so I can work on it means I have no option but to ride in heavy rain. Not only was I working sanding down my boat in torrential rain all day, but I had to cycle back in it. As I recall, part of the road was submerged by water and it bought cars to a standstill.
The main problem isn't cycling in rain - it's the fact I can't paint my boat and I've been waiting to do it for ages. So now I will have to take her out of the water and paint indoors to avoid the disaster of rain falling on wet paint.
Meantime, I will continue to cycle in this miserable weather as I have no other transport.

I worked on my boat yesterday..well I sat on it and labored by lifting and emptying several containers of brewed beverage.
I guess you could call it work,yes my kind of work.

Life is hard. Last week I was sanding off all the old paint and it was p------g down all day. Had to take most of my clothes off and work as if I was actually in the water so I could at least dry off later and ride home.
Then there is the big hill by the farm on the way back - about 18 per cent but very long and ideal for a quick sprint.
On the way back the rain was so bad it was blinding me to the point my contact lenses were nearly being washed out of my eyes as I rode. The roads were likewise submerged by water at points as the drains overflowed.
I was planning to paint the boat but how can it be done in this rain? Looks like I'll have to push it under the bridge and try it that way.

I actually past my neighbor in his car on a decent on Saturday. Pretty crazy though, I didn't have my helmet on, my T-shirt and Bermuda shorts where flapping in the wind and no eye protection. I'm glad I didn't run into a swarm of bugs.

Sunday: Heavy tropical rain, high winds, cloud to cloud thunder storm and naggy wife syndrome

Monday: Cold March like rain, high winds and very slick road conditions.

Forecast: Who know's ?

Lw - how could I forget to include California on a pissing rain weather forecast? I mean you guys over there have nothing bt rain, eh?

But seriously, Ireland, Britain have been hit with torrential rain the last few days.
I went out in it on Saturday on the bike - at one point I couldn't see the road surface the rain was falling that hard.
I'd have been better off putting the bike in to the shower and turning the shower on.

Thank god for the 700x23's ! Fat tires would have been hydroplaning. You guys are troopers over there. I ride in the rain, but not when it's coming down sideways ( I know,,, define "down sideways").

If MP is all elated about coming to California in December then I know it's got to be pretty bad around that time in UK and Erin.

Scotland in December:

it gets 'light' at 9am and dark by 3:30pm. gloomy all day, probably windy with rain and the temp sits at a balmy 2C.

you leave for work and its dark, its dark before you leave work to drive home.

we have people here depressed because of lack of sunlight, cycling is left only to the mildly insane and the very poor.

this evening was lovely though, sunny and bright....its 22:43pm and i can see blue sky through the window.

went for a 30 mile bike ride this evening, it was glorious. I love it here when the weather is fine.

Rain isn't always bad. Have two good memories of rain, both from my Lands end to John O'Groats ride. First was Dartmoor which was ascended and descended in torrential rain with a stop at the hotel on top (two bridges hotel) for cream teas. Seriously, that stuff is like rocket fuel. Shot along the top of the moor then down the other side so fast that we couldn't see because the rain stung our eyes, had to open them occasionally to see where you're going but squinting the rest of the time. Other good memory was Rannoch moor in Scotland, where it also absolutely [censored] it down with rain. Basically, rain is awesome as long as you are warm. Soaked to the skin on both occasions (except on the top half, raincoat was fairly good), but still warm so it was ok, the rain just added to the spectacle. If you are cold, or don't have a rain jacket then rain sucks, but it can be fun, honest.
