  1. They got me. My brand hammer new Kona was stolen out of our apartment while I was at work. They knew what they were looking for because they didn't take anything else. I worked for 2 years saving up for that bike and it is GONE. I am bummed... 🙁

  2. I'm sorry to hear that.

very annoyed too on your behalf.

  3. I got to put about 10 miles on it total. I guess I get the pleasure of going into every sleasy pawnshop in the area now on top of losing my ride. I am just ill.

  4. They stole it out of your apartment...and that was the only thing that they took?

Yeah. I feel like I was definately targeted... I am positive that it won't show up at a pawn shop but I have to at least look.

  6. Bad news.

Do you have the serial number or at least a description to put here and Craigslist?

I don't know if it does any good, but at least there is a chance that someone else will see the bike.

I don't have any valuable bikes, but now I think I'll get all of the serial numbers down just in case.

Good luck on finding your ride.

  7. That absolutely sucks. Good luck with the hunt. Do you have renters insurance?

I know a guy who had his Moots YBB stolen and, after replacing it with another one, he saw some punk riding it in Baltimore - this was about one year later. He chased the guy who then dropped the bike and ran. He got his old bike back and had another to boot.

  8. I'm guessing you didn't have renters insurance.

I have a seperate rider on home and auto - steal my sh$t and I'm getting a new bike - not that I'm asking for assistance, but I'm not loosing any sleep.

The polices are cheap, and well worth it if you have something happen...

    HR

  9. Hrooknk...usually when that happens it's definitely somebody you know or even a neighbor. Anybody you have shown the bike off to lately?

  10. I know the pain of getting a high-end bike stolen. Mine was locked with a cable lock during a festival with hundreds of people around. Dozens of bikes were locked here and there all over the area. I was watching my bike like a hawk.(I was a living history performer at the event. Our group was invited to give a public display. While we were performing someone was able to approach my bike, cut the lock and take everything that was on it with them, including the lock. I had pictures of my bike that I spread around. I made a police report and the word was put out within 15 minutes of the time I saw the bike was gone. It did not matter. It's six months now and my bike, a full custom carbon fiber bike is long gone. Fortunately, for me, it was covered under our renter's insurance under a replacement cost clause. I got a new custom bike to replace it.

Commiserations! I had 2 bikes stolen out of my lounge room about 8 months ago. Luckily I had insurance, but it is the annoyance and inconvenience as much as anything. I keep my new ones locked inside the house!

  12. What was the bike model and how much did it cost?

  13. Check Ebay and Craigs List and pawn shops. It may show up!!!

    Good luck.

  14. Sorry about your bike..

If this was a new bike any chance yo bought it within the last 30 days and you purchased it on a major credit card? Most credit cards have 30 day lost/ stolen/ or damaged protection available to the card holder. I ask because I have this very same experience. Brand new bike stolen. Lukily I remembered reading in the fine print of my policy (yeah I read it) about this insurance. I called the credit card company and they told me to send them a police report number so they could keep it on file. Weeks later, I had a credit on my card for the exact amount of the bike purchase. No deductible, no fuss, no problem.

    Otherwise, that just blows!
