First is it me or are foldable Kevlar bead tires a little bit harder to mount?
Second I put them on yesterday. Rode about 10 miles. Then this morning before heading out I checked the pressure and they seemed to drop about 10 to 12 psi overnight from their max pressure of 90 psi. Do new tires stretch when first installed?

nice recreational around the block tire - ebbullient! do not scrap the sidewalls as into a slot border for a concrete sidewalk slab then against the slab edge- the white sidewalls are binding threads reinforcing the carcass - rubout the threads and the carcass is fatally weakend put your reading glass on the sidewall!

Never noticed that. My Pasela TG tires tend to drop 10-12 psi/week or two, not overnight.

Usually a bit easier, actually. I like to "stretch" the beads a bit by doing "rows and leg presses" with 'em. Some brands are a b*tch to mount; others easy as pie.

The tubes hold air, not the tires (assuming not "tubless" {sic} models). Since I pump up before every ride, I don't worry about small overnight leakages. (Of course, it's also possible to pinch the tube installing difficult tires, but the fact that both of yours lost a little air probably rules that out. Pinches generally go flat.)

In my experience Kevlar bear tires are definitely harder. However tire/rim combinations are notoriously random. Well, with some outliers that everyone agrees are terrible.

Well, yes and no. Heavier and larger tires do seem to hold air better than smaller tires. Also it makes a difference if you're using a larger/heavier tube [1]. I run Schwalbe Marathon Pluses which run about twice the weight of the 'average' tire of the same nominal size. I only need to pump up my tires about once every two weeks. Once a week if I feel like it.

I'm thinking tube size. If you use a tube that is rated for a smaller tire than you have, it will leak a significant amount of air overnight. Latex tubes will always do that, but I doubt you have those. If it is a lightweight tube, expect the same. I top off my tires before every ride.

You could well be right; I've only had a few wire-bead tires (weigh weenie that I am), and I thought I'd /never/ get 'em on! I guess, though, once you realize you won't rip the bead with tire levers, it's easier to really use some muscle.

Will tempurature affect the pressure? Was the bike stored outside or in a garage?
spray the tire's sidewalls with CRC HD silicone spray or similar, let dry, then mount using the instructions at -DIY tire removal - in tech archives see: Specialized - equipment- tubes
back from lunch - following the DEPOSIT teflon wax ( google 'zipper lube' and then white teflon lubricant) into rear hub spoke holes when lacing a new wheel - i tried the CRC silicone, two coats, (and now inside following Slime's slime as talc replacement-back next week) then mounted the tire onto the rim off course then sprayed again with tire mounted and inflated leaving a cove of silicone at the sidewall rim intersection. not good. using a patch of aluminum foil holding a swatch of paper towel (2) soaked in acetone, I wiped the CRC Si off the rim's braking surface - twice - clean swatchs each side then coated the rim braking surface and overspray off course with CRC rubber belt dressing as at - brake prep - in archives now you may ask why? well, in touring and hd commuting, the sidewall intersection with the rim takes a horrific pounding. Worse, the flexing allows sand particle to enter the seam and LO! combined with the inevitable out of round yaw, the sidewall carcass fabric and cover seperates significantly reducting tire life -- thus the Si lube and lubecove cove reducing sidewall wear with a protective coating of relatively flexible belt prep over the top. so far this appears functional in reducing sidewall sepearations!!

Soap or glycerine will accomplish the same thing, without contaminating your braking surfaces.

Not in my experience. The most difficult tire I ever mounted is a Continental Ultra 3000 with wire bead. Took forever and cost me some skin.
The Conti Grand Prix 4000 has a kevlar bead and is also a [censored] to mount. I popped more than a few tubes trying to pry new Contis onto my rims with tire levers, and felt like a freaking idiot. Until I mounted Michelin Pro 2 Race tires and realized is was the tire, not the mechanic. I'm done with Contis because of this issue. They don't even stretch that much after miles use, so that levers and/or grunting, groaning and finger skin are still necessary for removing and mounting after a flat. Which makes for a slow tube change and doesn't make you popular in your group ride :-(

Now, I mounted some Conti Top Tourings on another bike and they were super easy. I'm not fast by any means, but I got both tires mounted and inflated in 10 minutes flat. They have wire bead. My Ruffy Tuffys, which are kevlar beaded, are super easy too. Maybe the Ultras are different?
