  1. Hi i've been cycling for about 3 years (18 months training) now, i religiously read these forums for a long time

recently on my rides a strange thing is happening when i get on the bike outside or in the trainer i start riding and i'm just wasted (not in the normal warm up way )
i don't have a powertap but in my trainer (tacx flow i know it's not that acurate) i struggle to get 100-110 watts , but after about an hour, 45 min suddenly my strengh comes and i can push about 200 watts for +- 30 min (did my ftp test for example) and the perceived effort is about the same.
i just dont get it maybe i'm just losing my mind. this is happening for about a month now. is it overtraining or bad nutrition?
    i'm such a newbie 😄

    thanks for your time

  2. The body can do strange things. the last few days i been riding strong, i can hold a pace of 210 watts for 4+ hours. i have a FTP 280 watts. today i did a 11 mile climb and struggled to keep tempo on it. 230 watts felt like 290 watts. a week ago i did the same climb at 287 watts for 48 minutes, then rode 3 more hours attacking and riding away from my team mates. today i was weak after 2 hours, then could not nail 200 watts for over a few minutes. it happens from time to time i have no explanation, but know your not alone.

    Zaskar,

what does your Rolling TSS look like before these bouts of weakness?

Specifically, until the Training Manager (tm) comes out, I look at 24 day - (minus) 7 day rolling averages and it gives me an approximation for my form. If it is a negative number, I will likely have a not-so-hot day, conversely, if it is positive, watch out...

Good question. looking at my TSS that doesn't look like the issue. today i woke up feeling like [censored], a wheeze and cough. my wife and kids have upper respiratory infections, seems i have it now.

Hope you get over it soon...

    Take care,
