I need a new pump to carry with me on road rides. I have a larger pump w/ stand that I can use at home, but want something portable to tuck into a jersey pocket.
Any recommendations for a decent compact pump (for a beginner roadie on a budget?) :o

I have an SKS wese pump, which does the job just fine, and retails for 10 ~ 15 Euro here in Rome.

I would recommend getting a CO2 inflater. I know it isn't what you're asking about, but they work very well, and will take up less room in the end. They are quick too!

Yeah I second the Co2 inflator. I carry two 16g cartridges in my bike bag, along with a spare tube and it's all I need. One 16g cartridge will fill a 700x23c tire to 130 lbs. Really simplifies my bike riding too. For a mini pump I used a Blackburn Airstick, and it was good to, although a lot more work. Blackburn Airsticks have a lifetime guarantee and small enough to carry in a jersey pocket if you dont want to strap it to your bike.

CO2 is good, but if you want a small jersey pocket size check out Crank Brothers. Also, search this forum for the CO2 vs. pump debate.

Topeak and Barbieri also make nice pumps that a lot of people I know use... and for the record I vote for a mini-pump and not for an inflator... with some elbow grease you will also get home...😉

Thanks for the replies, guys. I don't want to open the CO2 debate, and i think I will hold off on one of those for this season.
I think I will just get a mini pump. something i can toss in the jersey pocket and use to get me out of jams on the road.

the crank brothers mini pump you are referring too, is that a crank brothers power pump (5.6 inches, no gauge?). Is that the one?
