  1. Ploughman's Lunch

Basic extra matured cheddar cheese in a hefty chunk and/or some stilton
3 (or so) pickled onions, thick slices crusty bread,
    chutney (Branston pickle)
    mustard (hot English of course)
    a hard boiled egg
a pint of ale or cider

    Optional: tomato, Melton Mowbray pie
Optional: different cheeses: Red Gloucester, brie, camembert
    Optional: some fruit.

Ploughman's Lunch isn't actually a sandwich as such. Basic extra matured
cheddar cheese in a hefty chunk and/or some stilton; 3 (or so) pickled
onions, thick slices crusty bread, chutney (Branston pickle), mustard (hot
English of course) and possibly a hard boiled egg... and a pint of ale or
cider! Nowadays you may also find on a traditional English pub Ploughman's
Lunch: tomato, Melton Mowbray pie (a pork & veal pie, cooked in hot water
pastry, topped up with apsic when cold, and served and eaten cold -
particularly fabulous with hot English mustard, just a scrape) and
different cheeses: Red Gloucester, brie, camembert etc. and possibly some
fruit. You don't actually make a sandwich with the ingredients, just
    gobble away at random.
