Just getting ready to cycle off to meet up with Steph and I hear a "Helen, can you spare me a minute??" So I wander off into the garage where Vernon is tinkering with me bike... "Heard any funny noises from the back of your bike, lately?" he says. "Errr...nooooo..." says me. "Look at this"says he. He spins my wheel (oooerrr, Missus) and it wobbles about all over the place. "A bit out of true, then?" I say sagely. I obviously am demonstrating my knowledge of cycling matters technical. "Just a bit." says my personal bike mechanic. So he takes my wheel off the bike and we discover why.... the rim is split in two places... It's a Mavic MA3 - hasn't there been a thread recently about this???
So there's a rapid changing of rear wheel so the rear wheel from Vernon's bike gets put on mine for the day...
Now to get a new rear wheel... AAAAGGGHHHHH!!!
Cheers, helen s

It's all that carrying around ammo on the rear rack.
Could be - I'll have to invest in pumice based slabs ;-)

It was me started the thread about the MA3's, mine was two parralel cracks each side of a drive side spoke hole, about 10mm long. Whats your like.
I've ordered some Ambrosio Execlence rims from hewit cycles, There about the same weight, but with double eyelets and a deeper section

If you hubs are ok, get him indoors the book, some new rims and some spokes.

About the same - on two different spokes.

Oh I'll be angling for some new *complete* wheels. After all, one can never have too many bikes, bike bits or accessories or spend too much money on bikes... etc., etc., etc...
Cheers, helen s :-)

But if you get the bock and do it yerself, you've got an excuse to get a truing stand and a dishing tool, making yourself incalculably cool amongst your cycling chums.

No, but my large rear end does sit on a saddle which is linked to the back wheel by metal ;-)
