Hi everyone,
I realize there is a wine group but this is my preferred group and I've
always gotten excellent suggestions from you all. A friend has invited
me over and will be cooking chicken, I don't know how he will be
preparing it but I offered to bring wine. I'm not much of a wine
drinker and don't know what to bring. I am looking for something in the
mid-price range. Do you have a favorite that goes well with wine and is
reasonably priced? Thanks so much. He didn't want me to bring dessert
is there something else I can bring as an appetizer??

LisaWhile the old white wine with chicken 'rule' has pretty much been thown out,
I still prefer that pairing. I'd say a $12-15 Chardonnay (will be 'oak'
tasting) or Gewurtztraminer (a little sweeter/spicier and cheaper).Appetizer: I'd go for a prosciutto wrapped asparagus. You can just put
some garlic inside or a Feta/ground black pepper spread). Par boil the
asparagus (3-4 minutes), wrap 'em up, and bake them at about 400F for 5-10
minutes at your friend's house.Bob

Bolla Soave or Bolla Pinot Grigio.Quoted message said:

LisaIn order of my preference:
Prosecco (Italian sparkling white)
Gewurtztraminer (spicy)
Pinot Grigio (very mild flavored)
Chardonnay (popular, not my favorite)Appetizer: melon balls? Costa Rican cantaloupes have been cheap and
delicious here.gloria p

How about some chicken? Banquet is reasonably priced.

Unlike all others in the world I like a light red wine with chicken dishes,
particularly the assertive chicken dishes, like coq au vin. Try a a very
young fresh tasting Beaujolais. No one will be unhappy.
Any champagne is great, of course.
Cheers,

Okay, Lisa ...
Lots of good wine suggestions here ... if you have time, go buy a couple of
the suggestions and have a private party, with yourself, before hand so you
can take something that you like. That said, and the Chardonnay, Gewurtz, Beaujolais, etc list ... add a white
zinfandel to that also ... kind of a white/red mix ... and better than a
Rose ...
