Ok, at Bob's request, I'll try to post more about cooking than jokes.
<lol> I think tho' that I LEARN more here than I can contribute on the
cooking end but I'll give it a shot!
After experimenting this weekend with both shrimps, and chicken
drumsticks, I plan to expand my experimentation to......
Squid.
Calamari is IMHO really best served coated and deep fried. Up to this
point, I did not own a deep fryer so was reduced to using it in chowders
and stir fry's. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Squid in a
Paella (sp?) over rice is excellent.
But there is nothing like a really nice deep fried squid rings and
tentacles. ;-d
Over the weekend, I used Arrowroot powder (easily can substitute corn
starch for that) mixed with salt free chicken fajita seasoning and a bit
of garlic powder.
Coated both chicken and shrimps with that using only water to wet the
meat. The coating stuck nicely and fried up with a delightfully light
coating that did not absorb a lot of grease. I think an egg coating
would NOT have worked as well.
Granted, the fajita seasoning is a mix. One could probably substitute
some ground black pepper, garlic and onion powder for that, along with
just a dash of chili powder.
I like the mix. It's Fiesta brand from our local grocery store.
I have some lovely pre-cleaned squids thawed in the 'frige right now and
will slice those into rings and tentacles later on today, and will
probably grab the remaining fresh brocolli and give it the same treatment.
Yes, I'm having LOADS of fun with the new Presto fry daddy. <lol>
Will post the joke du jour shortly and hope that this post satisfies Bob
and the rest that hate me for posting a daily joke. ;-)
Hugs all!
