1. I had posted in the thread Where are you from, what do you do? that I had given up bicycling for a short time because of the death of Ken Kifer. He was hit head-on by a drunk driver on a road by his home in Alabama, and passed away the next day. I was surprised that the only response I recieved to his mention was that someone was sorry that this had happened to my friend. In fact, Ken Kifer was (and still is, through his website that is carefully maintained by one of his best friends Riin) arguably one of the greatest advocates of utilitarian cycling and IMHO one of the greatest American cyclists of all time, although he never raced a single meter. I know that there are probably many people here in this forum that have indeed heard of him, but for those many who have not I would like to post a link to his Cycling website, full of humor, advice, travelogues, stories, practical advice, etc. This man, through his tireless Cycling advocacy, changed my life and I am most pleased to introduce him to you. Here's the link:

Ken Kifer is very well remembered by many in these and other forums and his site is a wealth of information and a fine testament to Ken's love of cycling.

We ride for Ken Kifer in the Ride of Silence.
He is listed in the memoriam pages of www.rideofsilence.org

Ride on 17th May in your local ROS in the US or on 20th May in Australia in Syd, melb and Bne. See bicyclejustice.blogspot.combicyclejustice.blogspot.com & yarrabug.orgRoSLeafletx3 3.pdf

3. Ken's website was (rather is) one of the best on the web. I remember quite vividly the day I discovered that he had been killed, on rec.bicycles. Awful. 🙁

Everyone be careful out there!
