front derailluer touches front chain ring

  1. Hi, I have a shimano 105 front derailluer and it touches the front chain ring and I was wondering if there is a way that you can raise it up a litttle bit because I know that it should be about 1/8 of an inch above the chain ring itself. I was riding and I shifted to the top chain ring and my chain got caught and it was not a fun time. Thanks.

    Yes, and how you raise it depends on whether it's a clamp on or braze-on mount. It just may be that your derailleur is actually bent, so look at how it's mounted carefully to see if there is evidence it moved down, or look to see if the metal looks bent.
