Dammit - I didn't get a leave pass to go racing today and I can't go next Saturday either. It looks like I'll be up for my Vic debut in two weeks time.
In the meantime, I'll be up for a BR at 0720 at DSC - if the radar is looking sort of clear...

Oh great, that's just what I need to hear. 🙁

I got the cast taken off my wrist yesterday so I will be taking the new roadie out for its first run. Not sure how the legs/lungs will hold up but I will have a crack anyways.
On 2006-04-29, Gags (aka Bruce) was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea:

Are you sure you want to have another crack, given how long this last crack of yours has kept you out of action?

Did people attend? I got up, looked at the radar, and eventually convinced myself that a tiny rain cloud would probably get me just a little bit wet. I then combined this with an excuse "I may be coming down with a cold" (thanks Ritcho for that one!), and went back to bed. Getting up just then, and I found I made the correct decision -- there's rain all over Melb now.

Four of us - Gags, Ess, DaveB and I. The roads were a little wet most of the time, but the rain held off until I was heading home, when it was a steady, soaking rain.
At least until I left the group, the ride was fun, muffins were good and no crashes. What more could you want?

Yep, there was me, Gags, Ritcho and Ess. It looked like raining a couple of times but nothing really happened. I put that down to wearing booties and carrying a jacket (which I didn't do last week and paid the price). Although it didn't really rain the roads were wet so it was a bit dodgy in some places. It was a mornign of scares but no damage done: - Gags had a scare at the roundabout at Diamond Creek when he found diesel and wet roads don't mix well. Rictho might have hit that as well. - I had a scare when Gags dropped into the gravel on the road to Smiths Gully and I thought he was going to take me out getting back on. - Gags had a scare when he nearly got car-doored in Greensborough (I was right behind him and I must say his reaction time was hot). - After missing Gags with the door, our friendly car passenger decided to step out of the car in front of me. Choice words about having a look were issued, and she replied that she was looking (obviously in the wrong direction) - I had a nother scare in the back streets of Greensborough when a car that waited for me to enter a roundabout then decided to pull out directly in front of me. More choice words issued, VERY LOUDLY, but even scarier he didn't seem to think he'd done anything wrong.
But despite that list of scares it was a bloody nice morning for a ride.

Wow. Gotta love the Diamond Ck-Greensborough area.
Diesel? What made you think it was diesel rather than plain old oil?
OK, Diamond Ck roundabout is probably another roundabout I should add to my list of "ride slowly in the wet". Me thinks I should just blacklist all of them, and then whitelist the ones that turn out to be safe 🙂

hey guys I went back to Rosanna to pick up that road frame out for hard rubbish collection for a SS project and the bloody thing had gone 🙁 . But since then they had put out another frame, MTB this time, which looked a bit small in the rain and the dark, but I grabbed it anyway (didn't want a wasted trip). Got it home to discover it is the same size as my MTB and it has horizontal dropouts. WooHoo! Best of all, it is a Roadmaster, so I can pretend I'm in the Indiana Little 500 in Breaking Away, when they say "Gentlemen, mount your Roadmaster bicycles".
