  1. im trying to lose some fat, i dont have much but im trying to get tone or whatever. for 2 weeks i started eating less and healthier, and started doing cardio workouts 3 times a week. i already lift in the gym 5-6 days a week.

i kinda wanted to speed things along, so i bought Xtreme Lean tablets theres a lot of other brands for the same thing, a popular one is called Ripped Fuel i think. its supposed to promote metabolism and some other stuff.

anyone with any knowledge about this type of product please give me your input. i want to know how well this stuff works and what i should do to maximize its effect without it being unhealthy.

  2. Best way to do it without it being unhealthy is to not take it. Be careful with some of them. When Ephedra was banned, the diet pill makers just filled the stuff with lots of caffeine. Some people get really bad jitters taking diet pills. I think Ripped Fuel just has tons of caffeine in it.

If your diet is in check and you are exercising, you really shouldn't need diet pills. That said, I've taken diet pills before. I don't know how much they help or if its just a placebo effect. In my opinion, the best diet pill out there is Lean System 7 (LS7). My second favorite would be Hot-Rox. I was never comfortable taking hot-rox before exercise.

Most of these diet pills don't help all that much if you don't already have a low bodyfat. They really aren't for the people who have huge amounts of weight to lose, but rather I think they are most effective when you only have a few more pounds left to go. I have no scientific evidence to back that up, only personal experience.

And with anything, check with your doctor first.

  3. i do only have a little bit to lose. im not overweight or anything.

  4. oh yeah...

i took it this morning before my workout on the bike machine at the gym. i only ate a nutri-grain bar and drank a lot of water before the ride. i felt like i had a lot more energy and it was easier at higher watts. my heart rate was a little higher cause i know there is caffeine in the pills, but i felt fine when working out.

  5. I use ripped fuel.

I agree that it only works as advertised if you are not carrying excess fat. AND, I might add, it works well in conjunction with a balanced nutritional plan (I refrain from saying "diet" as the implication there is that you have excess fat/weight).

The energy thing during workouts, I think, is just the caffeine. I get the same "jolt" or increased energy from a strong cup of coffee or dunkin donuts' turbo hot, for example.

Some others use hydroxycut, which I've also tried. All that did was give me the jitters. Ripped fuel is much more subtle .. for MY body; Does it really work? I dunno really. I make sure that I eat right, exercise right and have been very successful with the weight loss. I am ripped, relatively speaking, so THAT may be somewhat aided by the supplements ..

Or it could be the placebo effect also.

At best, it's a crutch; but it seems to work.

  6. I think they work from the stimulus effect.

Caffiene = Stimulated = Less Lethargic = Increased Motivation to Train.

There was a day that these products actually had a thermogenic effect. First a drug called Clenbuterol became popular among bodybuilding competitors in the 90's, but that drug was sometimes hard to get on the black market. It was then found that the ECA (ephedrine, caffiene, asprin) stack had the same thermogenic effect, but at a lesser degree than Clenbuterol. I remember using for the first time and I would begin sweating sitting at my desk from the thermogenic effect. However, you had to cycle this stack like 2 days on 2 days off to keep the receptors clean, but eventually the effect lessened and the only real impact came from being stimulated by the caffiene and ephedrine. Still being hyped up sort of speak helps keep the lethargic feelings at bay and it helps the intensity levels up. So in that manner some of these products still work as a stimulus.

Since these products have increased in price I now have gone back to the old school method of building my own stack by purchasing 200mg caffiene pills, baby asprin and bitter orange which is a little safer than ephedra and I would never use this stack on cycling days. I think I would end up with heart failure if I did. I only use them on days that I weight train and do easy cardio and I only use them because I go to the gym very early in the morning so getting a little stimulated early in the morning helps. Like Frank stated caffiene (coffee, tea, Diet Mt. Dew) would do just as good.

  7. i read the back of the bottle again. it says to limit exposure to sunlight. does that mean if i want to be out in the sun, i just should take it that day? how long should i wait after i last took it to be out in the sun? i need to know cause im going to the beach soon and i dont want to die.

  8. I would recommend stop taking at least a week before going on vacation or before prolonged sun exposure.
