Why drivers really hate cyclists

They really are quite fecund in wales.. I could have sworn the
population was only around 1.5 million females a couple of years ago
(and 1.4M males..).

population was only around 1.5 million females a couple of years ago
(and 1.4M males..).

Offa's Dyke cease to be an effective segregation from the United
Kingdom` centuries ago although I know some locals still think otherwise ;-)

With the internet, the English Channel ceased to be an effective segregation
of the news media from the rest of the world, so why not 111 people out of 6
billion?

Fincham's theory "a very strange sort of argument". Asked if she had
experienced hostility from motorists, she said, "It tends to be just
from youths in souped-up cars who think it's only them who are allowed
on the roads. ...."

Not in my experience. They're the ones with most to lose - money spent
on tarting up the car, licence if they get prosecuted, ruinous insurance
premiums.

I have nothing against old farts, indeed my parents are older than you
and one day I hope to qualify as one.

My comment was made with one particular old fart in mind. My regular
commute is along roads with a green bus/cycle/taxi lane and a lane where
the rest of the traffic go. Occasionally the green lane stops and an
optional cycle lane appears. Usually at places like junctions. Not so
long ago, I was passed extremely closely by a small bus driven by the
old fart in question. Now, I am used to this, What I was not used to was
that as he passed, he blew his horn and waved his fist at me. When I
caught him at the next set of lights, I had the opportunity to discuss
the matter with him. His reason, I had strayed out of the marked cycle
lane which he insisted were compulsory for cyclists to stay in. He then
asked if I knew who he was, as if that would excuse him, and claimed he
knew all about cycle lanes as we would not have them if it had not been
for him.

As a middle-aged-man-who-hasn't-quite-made-it I have observed that
ageism can strike at all levels, it even affects those that complain
about it the most.
