  1. I own a 1999 Specialized M2 Stumpjumper currently with Manitou SXR forks and rim brakes. After much forest and cross country ridiong I am looking to disc brakes, I find nothing more irritating than getting mud on the rims and finding braking badly impaired.

I have heard however that I cannot fit disc brakes to this bike and in other places I have heard I get an adaptor for the forks and the same for the rear of the frame, I would also need to buy a new rear hub?

Can anyone help, point me at a url or something so I can find out how I can fit disc brakes or how others avoid the issues I have described re brake degradation in certain conditions. I guess there is nothing you can do if the rimes are covered in [censored].

    Thanks all
