I've been on two BP meds for a while -- Norvasc and Accupril (the latter, according to my main MD because it also protects kidneys as I'm a Type II diabetic). But I haven't always been able to get the Accupril (samples, or on the programs for the indigent).
Now (surprisingly), I've been accepted into the VA. Although I won't have a formal exam for quite some time, the VA MD had no problem in re-prescribing all my meds. But because of the restrictive formulary they use, he had to substitute something called Felodipine for the Norasc, and Lisinopril for the Accupril.
I'm a little concerned that these arn't the same exact drugs chemically. Anyone have any experience in situations like this... or advice?
Of course ask your doc. The bottom line will be how the new drugs work to control your BP. At least the price is right!
