  1. I have been diagnosed with LVH, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy. I have been
prescribed Norvasc to lower my blood pressure, which is fairly high at an
average of 155/95. My understanding of LVH is that the heart muscle has
'thickened' or become bulkly, at least in part because of the high blood
pressure, which has forced my heart to do more work and caused the muscle to
toughen. Is that what others understand LVH to be?

And, if so, I am confused. We are always told that exercise is recommended
for good heart health; and the way I see it, exercise would also cause the
    heart to work harder,
and would that contribute to LVH? Would appreciate thoughts. Thanks.

    John

I'm not a doctor, but I believe the thickening in the heart is,
unlike most other developed musculature, profoundly unhealthy.

You want to be able to deliver the most amount of oxygenated blood
with the least cardiac effort. If your heart is thickening then this
    is no longer happening.

Overall exercise would incrase the efficiency of circulation and oxygenation
in the body, reducing demand and stress on the heart.
