only down side for a first century is that the rest stops were spaced 25 miles apart vs. 12-20 for

OOPS, sorry guys. Was looking at a different ride on the 15th.

I was just fine with stops every 25 mile but some less fit riders would appreciate more frequent
stops with water and food. I know on some hillier rides I have done I have appreciated the extra
stop at mile 85-87 before the final stretch. I need the break sitting on the picnic table eating
grapes before working myself up for the last few miles. Hopefully next year I can get more long
rides to prepare for the centuries I like to do and stops will be less mportant. Aiming for a 6 hr
total time century next year. I know not impressive but its a goal. Craig

Why do you need rest stops on a century?

I was there on the baron and did the ride with 2 short stops with a total elapsed time start to
finish of 4 hours 40 minutes. Ride time was 4 hour 31 minutes. Was great day. Found two riders that
were able to hang with me for over 50 miles. One guy was on a carbon giant and was the owner of
Devinci Tandems. The guy is also a track sprinter. Figures. Couldn't drop him with the tailfaired
lowracer even going over 36 mph for extended periods. I tried though.........dropped everyone else.

Thanks.........was a lot of fun. Was pretty worn out the next day though. I guess I'm doing the
Irish Hills Century this weekend on Sunday. I've never done this course, but I hope there are some
good climbs and some awesome downhill screamers.

Another good ride this Saturday is the Hope (Indiana) Ride. Routes from 25 miles to a century, good
food, quiet, rural roads, it's one of my favorite rides.
