  1. Does anyone else find this mountain deceptive? I have a theory that
    it's the size of the blocks that make it look smaller than it actually
    is.

    It doesn't fool me - it always looks big, especially when starting up
    the North Ridge after a couple of hours in a car. Then look at the way
    it's there in every view from almost anywhere around the Nant Francon,
    not to mention it's being the most obvious mountain seen from many
    other viewpoints even as far away as the Clwydians.
    Does 'Angus of the Fells' know he's got a Welsh rival for media
    stardom?

    We saw several in the space of a few minutes and so suspected there was
