  1. Hello all, I have just recently started cycling and I have a MTB bike but I would like to get a good road bike. Any suggestions? I am looking into a Specialized allez sport 27. Is this a good bike? What about the Giant ORC 1?I would like to spend no more than 750. Also my inseam is a 33 1/4 do you think a 56 is a good sized frame for me? Thanks for all of your help.

    Brandon

  2. Thanks for your help!

  3. What's the currency? $750 US? 750 UKP?

I don't know much about Specialized bikes (they're not very common here in Australia), but the Giant OCR1 is a good value decent road bike, with a good mix of components. If you don't get the itch for competition it should be good for a long time.

re: the fit, road bikes are more sensitive to poor fit than mountain bikes. Most online frame dealers have online fit calculators that can give you a good starting point.. www.wrenchscience.com and www.competitivecyclist.com are two I can remember off the top of my head.

  4. Thanks rek,

One of my best mates if over in Melbourne on the Gold Coast. The currency is US. Thanks again.

Here, they don't get better than this shimano 105 for $700.:

As for size. I would say that a 56-58 would fit you. Of course stem length would have to be adjusted.
