  1. Hello everyone.
I am a MTBing novice. I got a Trek 3900. The previous owner of the
bike is about 40lbs lighter than me. Should the front suspension on
this bike be adjusted for my 230lb frame? If so, can I do it myself?
I really don't want to spend much more money than I have to. Thanks
    for the help.

I have read that most forks are set for an average weight of 180lbs. I
have found that at my weight (220lbs), I can easily bottom out most
stock shocks. I have replaced the springs or elastomers on all of the
    bouncy parts on my bikes.

It is a fairly easy process. In most cases you will remove the top cap,
slide out the old parts, slide in the new parts, check your oil for
bubbles and proper level (if it is an oil shock), and replace the top
    cap.

Check with your local bike shop for the parts. Or do a google search
    for your specific fork.

    Good luck,

    -Buck

  3. Thank you, Buck!
