Hello, my son is 15 years old and is a fantasic road biker. At this point his average speed is 20 mph with cages. I need to get him clips. He has been riding for about one year. My question is I want to get him hooked up with a junior cycling team or group that can mentor him in the Central New Jersey or Phildelphia area. Can anyone give suggestions?? also what are the best type of pedels to get I have Look but I am not crazy about them.
I have some basic Shimano clips which are fine. There are the Speedplay Zero pedals which are supposed to be great. My dad is probably going to get them because of such great reviews and whatnot. However, tey are kind of expensive. Good luck with the club!
I use Look A5.1s. I think they work great. I find they give a lot of power. When I first started looking for clipless the bike shop told me to go with more of a platform type pedal because they give more power and the bigger cleat is easier for a beginner to get used to. See if a bike shop will let your son try out the two different kinds before you buy.
