Phoo... shop around at garage sales, thrift stores or Craigslist. You
can probably find a useable errand bike for $20.

My errand bike is one I built from a donated Raliegh frame and spare
parts. Since I splurged on a replacement fork (I couldn't find good
replacement headset parts), it ended up costing me about $60, including
titanium handlebars.

I use a 1988 Gary Fisher HooKooE Koo I bought for $30 at a pawn shop. I've since
put tires, fenders and a rack on it along with applying some basic maintenance.
It is a far better bike than anything you'll find for 200 clams.

Flea markets have classic MTBs and road bikes all day long for under a hundred.
Any of 'em will be better than some new POS.
