On the weekend this week's forecast called for thunderstorms Tuesday. I
planned accordingly. Tuesday was to be my indoor day.
Tuesday breaks sunny and warm [15c] The forecast changed to rain on
Wednesday. I vacillated but stuck to my schedule.
Wednesday the rains came. Wished I'd chucked the schedule and gone for a
ride Tuesday.
So you should feel guilty. Today I ploughed through monsoons and
a hailstorm to get to four different bike shops plus a hardware
store to get a new bottle generator (wore out the old one,) a
3-cup coffee percolator, a spray bomb of waterproofer for my rain
cape, a chain tool (bent the pin on my old one in my impatience to
reinstall the chain to get to work,) a new 6-spd freewheel & chain,
a spare brake cable, a new freewheel remover with the corners
unrounded by Vice-Grips, and some other stuff I can't remember
right now. And then I went out again to get some groceries. And,
y'know what? I stayed perfectly dry throughout all my excursions.
I've got the rain gear completely figured-out, and it doesn't
involve neoprene booties or expensive Gortex.
Heh. Riding in the rain ain't so bad, once you've mastered it.
And percolated coffee beats drip coffee, hands down.
cheers,
Tom
