Shredded bar tape

Use new tape.

It makes the bike look better, ride smoother, and attracts members of
the opposite sex.

For the few bucks it costs to replace bar tape, it doesn't make too
much sense to try to extend the life of some beat up old tape, IMHO.
But if I were going to try to touch up a bad spot, I suppose I'd
probably use rubber cement.

Probably anything. But why?

Just wrap new tape in a new color and get fashion forward.

I use a really good grade of electrical tape. I've seen silicone
sealer used; it can work, but it's usually ugly.

Thanks, all. After just wrapping new tape, looking real pretty, tight and
cushy, I road-rashed one side a bit, so I wanted a quick touch-up to hold up
for a few rides before re-wrapping. Done. So now for the new.

How's that leather bar tape perform? I see that Brooks has some out. A
good idea?

I'd like to try that myself, but I'm not going to spend $60 for
handlebar tape.
I like the Cinelli Gel tape, which has just the right amount of
cushioning and grip, and is stretchy and non-adhesive so it is really
easy to wrap perfectly.
