I will try to keep this message shorter than my last post. I am now 11 days post pacemaker implant. I still have some discomfort in the arm (implanted on the right side of my chest just under the collar bone) and I unable to raise my arm very high. Is this normal and will it pass or will I always be limited in how high I can raise my right arm?
Secondly, although the implant site looks flat visually, when I run my hand over it, it feels slightly raised and I can feel the outline of the device. Again is this normal? Will I always be able to feel the device by touch?

I had mine implanted a year ago this month. I had some discomfort for about 2 weeks--and it hurt to raise my left arm. Mine was implanted on the left side of my chest because I'm right-handed. The discomfort disappeared and I have full range of motion.

Completely normal. I have the same bump exactly as you describe.
Your arm discomfort will take a little while to disappear. Realize that everybodys body shape and dimmensions are different. The amount of visability often is a result of the patients physical measurements and bodyfat.

I had one fitted last Thursday. Its on the other side and is still sore. I believe we will always be able to feel the bump as I have a friend - he is over 80 - and his pacemaker is quite easy to feel the shape of - over the top of his shirt of course. He says a persons soon gets used to them. I've got a mechanical heart valve too so, all in all, there's a lot to get used to. Best wishes, Diana
