Without air resistance, there is no definable (i.e. limiting) speed to
refer to. Anyone with a basic knowledge of physics knows that and
would never confuse the concept of "acceleration" with "speed".

Hank, objects under the force of gravity accelerate (ie no contant speed) until
some limiting speed (velocity) is reached. The downward force of gravity is
something like 9.8 m/s^2 if I remember correctly from my physics course 20 years
ago. The only opposite force would be the weight bearing capability of each
floor. Now to calculate the force required to slow the collapse, you have to
look at the momentum from the above floors, or p = m * v, and this increases
very very very quickly as each floor collapsed. You have the above 10+ floors at
the beginning gaining velocity through gravity acting on them, and you have each
collapsing floor adding to the mass. No individual floor could expect to put up
any resistance to such a force.

You're ignoring the massive perimeter columns and the central
core structure. They also exploded in a pile of rubble. If
the floors "pancaked" as the conspiracy theorist claim, then
the massive steel core and perimeter would have been left
standing, without the burden of holding up the floors.

one can see that most of the debris was thrown well beyond the
footprint of the building. This is not floors stacking up like
records on an old turntable. That means that as the demolition
progressed, there was much less weight for the remaining undamaged
portion of the building to support. And this is where the steel
is thickest and the building strongest. Why, with most of the
weight above it gone, and the remaining portion of the building
undamaged, does it continue to explode?

They would have stopped when they reached the undamaged
portion of the building. The steel frame was dramatically
over engineered to support many times the weight of the
towers. A gravity forced collapse of a steel framed building

That's not an explosion you muppet!. There's a fire (the smoke) and there's
FALLING dust (from the crushed by the floors from above) of the concrete the
tower was built from. NO amount of spindly steel framing would stop it. They
DID pancake down.
