Quoted message said:What is your opinion about genetics? I read an article from a builder
in Muscle and Fitness magazine who said he naturally bench pressed 310
pounds! That is a lot! He must have good genetics. I'm stil working up
to it. I bench 175 right now but I just started lifting again. I
started benching 45 pounds in high school. I now curl 40 pounds for 9
reps. Do genetics really matter? Are there any professional
bodybuilders who overcame bad genetics? I read that Franco Colmbu
overcame weakness and thiness to be a champion. He still looked pretty
darn strong before he did serious lifting.
I have philosophized that everything exists in God's mind and genetics
aren't that big a deal. It's just the effort you put in and the foods
you eat.

The same genetics that dictate your height , dictate your muscle
composition.
Boyer Coe didnt even have a two pack, never mind a six pack.
Just look at the bods in a football club, who all train in a similar manner.
Look at Carl Lewis, compared with succesive 100 m sprinters.
I had a memorable member back in the late seventies, who traind 'exactly' as
I showed him. His dedication was remarkable. The bad news was "nothing
changed"...EXCEPT his character, and quality of self esteem.
You used the word philosophy.
One of the best references, is, we are always on a journey, never at a
destination.
I'm 6'5 and from the Arnie era. I trained as hard as any living soul, but I
had very long "ankles" and "wrists" hehehe, so my effort (NEVER WASTED)
resuted in making a great living from gym ownership, and I'm now a lot
fitter than big Arn.
Unlike him, I dont even have a 'doctor'
Another philosophy I developed back then "medicine (steroids) are for sick
people. If you take them when you are well, you will get sick....
