  1. Okay, I know TV commercials are to be endured, not taken seriously, but
I'm getting tired of watching dumb males drinking beer and getting
dumber. Apparently cell phones and car insurance have the same effect.
I understand the cell phone thing, something to do with those electric
waves affecting the brain. And I understand the temptation to enjoy
interludes of stupidity, like after three or four beers. Frankly gin
does it better and is much less filling. But these commercials seem to
    suggest stupidity is the norm.

Maybe the commercials are just for entertainment. Heck, why not let
Jerry Lewis do all the commercials. Then we'd understand it was showbiz
and not a reflection of everyday life.

Hey, I think I'll have another beer and since nobody's home, try a
handstand on the dining room table.

Have you seen the Jeep ad that's running lately? Some kids seem to be
looking through the underwater glass at a seaquarium, talking about which is
their favorite big fish or shark. Next, a Jeep drives out of the ocean up
onto the beach, and the ad mentions that it's got a bunch of nice skylights.
Cool ad. But, at the bottom of the screen, there a disclaimer for the
terminally stupid: "Fictional representation. Jeep is not suitable for
    underwater use".

They're all around us - the terminally stupid, and they don't need beer to
be that way. "Serving Suggestion Only - Vegetables Not Included" - used to
be on the front of the Ortega taco shell box. Gee - I thought there'd be
some lettuce & tomato in the box.

There are some who believe that alcohol makes you evolve into a smarter
person. The argument is that like a herd of antelope is like a wartime
marine convoy that can only move as fast as it's slowest members. The
predators go after the slowest and weakest members. When the slower
members are killed off, the rest can speed up.

The brain is a vast network of nerve cells and some of the neurons are
faster and healthier than than average, and some are slower and weaker.
Alcohol kills brain cells. The unhealthiest cells are the first to succumb.
Since they were the cells the rest of the brain's processing, the brain can
    work faster without them.
So drinking beer makes you smart.
    :-)

    It made Budweiser.

I always hated Jerry Lewis. Mind you, Dean Martin could have given us
    some advice about booze...

I have found some of my most intelligent moments have included alcohol
😉 Creativity increases and inhibitions decrease. In hind sight,
stupidity might have been a better choice.

This is a very good theory but one that is slightly flawed. You see if
you start off with excess brain cells, you can afford to lose the weaker
ones thus making you very smart if you drink enough. The problem is
some have to depend on those weaker brain cells just to do the very
basics so killing them off isn't a really good idea. You tend to see a
lot of these types of people in the bars late at night, on COPS, and in
ER in the wee hours of the morning. And these weaker brain celled folks
tend to have a higher fucundity aka a bunch of offspring likely
smartened up in the womb. You just can't smarten them up too soon 😉

BTW, cute definition of evolution. Species evolve, not the individual.
The individual is just the pawn in the whole process.

I used to love watching Jerry Lewis when I was a kid. He was very
funny. His now on or off tv personality is nothing like his younger tv
personality. Something changed him or he never was in the first place.
I still watch his older movies once in awhile but not his telathons or
anything else. I saw a show - I'm thinking biography but could be
wrong, could have been on the gambling channel - some time ago and he
was brash, rude, arrogant and condesending. In his later years he seems
to have grown into a bitter old man.

  9. Unfortunately brains cells do not kill off the weak and supplant them with
new, more vital cells, whatever that means, maybe like replacing a bruised
tire on your car. The areas that are affected by alcohol include damage to
the structure of the source for memory.

How smart can you be with impaired memory?
