  1. Today- we're going to need to count the seeds in 5 golden delicious, 5 red
delicious and 5 granny smith apples (son's science experiment). Therefore -
I will be left with the 'meat' of 15 apples. Can I freeze these for cooking
in a pie / cake at a later time? If so, how? Or - is there something real
easy I can do with them now? My family isn't huge apple - eaters, but i can
gladly spread the joy with neighbors, etc. I just don't want to put a lot of
time and effort into cooking them today. Thanks!

hmm.. fruit punch, apple & walnut salad, apple & something stuffing for
    roast... maybe..?

  3. Any apples that make good pies can be made into pie fillings and
frozen. All you do is make up a pie filling as though you were going
to put it into a shell and bake immediately, but put it into a freezer
bag instead. I always keep a few pie fillings in the freezer, and when
I want to make a pie, take out the bag, thaw it a bit while I make the
crust, and then assemble and bake.

If you freeze the filling in the pie plate you normally use, then remove
it to a plastic bag after it has frozen, when you want to make a pie,
you don't even have to thaw. You just slip it into the crust. It is
already the right shape. You could go one better and press the plastic
bag into the pie plate before filling and freezing

usually like that, and whatever you guys can't use can be jarred and

Applesauce is a good idea, especially with a variety of apples. This
website Sheldon gave says you can do it in just a few minutes in the
microwave. I've never before used this method but can't think of any
reason why it wouldn't work well. It's a great accompaniment to a
    pork roast. -aem

cut the top and bottom of the apples off ...then starting with the stem
side up use a Mandolin to get uniform thin slices of apple 1/8 inch or
less...don't core just shake the seeds out as you come to them. Soak the
slices in a sugary water solution that the juice of 1 lemon has been
added to, the lemon juice is to stop the browning of the fruit . Spread
the sugary slice out on cookie sheet no overlapping. Bake at 200F till
well dried out. Makes nice edible decorations for cakes, pies etc or
    edible snacks.

I don't know if you found a use for the apples yet, but if you really
want to cook them without hassle put them in a big microwave-proof
bowl with some raisins and a good sprinkling of spice and nuke them.
No need to add water - the juice will come out of the apples while
they cook and they get lovely and soft. Sugar is optional (if you have
a sweet tooth) and if you want to get fancy, put some lemon juice in
them too. The cooked apple can be frozen and made into apple cake or
used as a sauce for icecream or served with pork...

Oh yes, I know those, thanks. I haven't got one though so I'll just use a
    knife.

I guess it's too late now but I would just make applesauce.
Throw them in the microwave with some brown sugar and butter
(new way I learned to make applesauce from a friend - makes
the best sauce ever!!!). Really easy.
