In my experience, it's mostly been the women who couldn't cook and
the men who did. Even in pretty traditional marriages. I would talk
food and recipes and techniques with the husbands. It doesn't seem that
too many parents are teaching their daughters to cook, and not too many
moms are at home to teach either sons or daughters to cook anymore.
Even when a mom is at home, in our circles, it is just as likely that
her husband can/does cook. Like I said, people had tasted my cooking,
and nobody really had had Rich's, so I guess they assumed I did it all
and he couldn't. Or that since I was normally at home, I was used to
making meals for the kids and me, and since he was normally at work he
wasn't. It wasn't anything nefarious, just funny.
