Take a look at Cateye Micro Wireless or VDO (www.cycleparts.de).
Most newer models give you both options. I use both the Cateye & VDO on various bikes.

Check out "Sigma"
All their computers can be mounted on the bars or stem.
There are 4 small screws on the computer bracket that can be unscrewed and the bracket turned 90 degrees to mount on the stem.
I have it mounted on my stem. They even have a new model, BC1606L that has a backlight. Slick system.
