    Cyclist killed instantly in collision with pickup
    The Salt Lake Tribune

    A Park City man bicycling in Utah County was killed about 10 a.m. Saturday
    when his group of riders stopped, causing him to crash into another rider
    and fall into the path of a Dodge pickup. The group of seven friends, among
    them 49-year-old William Corliss, was riding bicycles in tandem on the
    narrow southbound shoulder of State Road 68, about 2 miles south of State
    Road 73 in Saratoga Springs, said Utah County sheriff's Lt. Yvette Rice.

    Because of gravel on the shoulder, the lead riders slowed almost to a stop
    at mile marker 30.5. Corliss was farther back in the line. As he tried to
    slow down, he ran into the back tire of the bicycle immediately in front of
    him, causing him to fall into the southbound lane. A Dodge pick-up towing a
    large trailer with cement forms struck Corliss, killing him on impact, Rice
    said.

    Though he was wearing a bike helmet, Corliss reportedly suffered severe head
    trauma as a result of the accident. The accident remains under
    investigation, Rice said, though Corliss' death does not appear to be
    "suspicious in nature." - Lisa Rosetta

    developmental cycling program based in Park City, Utah.

    That's really tragic although I'm having a little trouble visualizing
    the accident

    Davey, That is a really nice site. You've really been doing a service
    to the group with your pointed and intelligent postings and I'd like to
    thank you for it. It's so much better than "Dumbass".

    That's a terrible thing to say! "Dumbass" is a part of our collective
    heritage.

    God willing, when I have grandchildren, I'll tell them about the good
    old days, when men were men and I spent many an hour telling Dumbasses
    to Livedrunk.

    Jonny is going to kill me if he finds out I shared this, but true story:
    the same guy who whacked a haybale last year in an unassisted crash got
    smacked in a training race last weekend, thumped to the ground, and was
    run over by several trailing riders (despite being only two riders back,
    I was just about the only guy who didn't hit him...).

    After seeing his leg, my new name for him is "Treadmark."

    Another true story: the last alcoholic drink I had was about a week ago,
    but it was the following, in indeterminate quantities: Vodka, Blue
    Curacao, Grenadine, and orange juice. I dub it the "Torx Screwdriver".
