Some commute

more revision in the evening and then another 2 hours back - a bit heavy on
both mind and body?

University, rode back every night with panniers stuffed full of punch
cards/paper tape and printouts of Fortran to debug at home in the evening;
and got a 1st class honours 🙂

Just 2.5 miles for me with a canvas bag of Pascal on one of those old racks
with a spring clip like a giant mousetrap. After uni it was 5 miles and
Algol, but the same bag.

are computer scientists. Although perhaps this is just a reflection of the
fact that i know a lot of computer scientists!

I know a lot of bike nuts who are not computer scientists. However, I
don't think I know any computer scientists who are not bike nuts.

I used to just about half of that each day to go to work, and the same
distance each evening to go to a folk dance.

DH used to ride 200 miles to University in Salford from Winchester, with
panniers stuffed full of dirty washing, but only about twice a term. Going
round the Bull Ring in Birmingham in the early hours of the morning in the
early 70s with a beeping radio (no night time broadcasts then) got him
stopped by the police after the bombings.

god, I'd happily ride that distance to *avoid* going to a ceili, plus
I'd write something in ICL Plan assembler when I got there.

All the bike nuts I know hold stuff together on my bike. I don't
/think/ they are compskies. I more or less am but my mum and my sister
definitely aren't but are enthusastic cyclists

6 miles each way with a saddle-bag (bungied shut) full of Pascal and
6502 assembler.
