I've always heard that before one [a backflip] was actually done, it was considered to be impossibly hard... Just like the 900, and just like the double crankflip... Just about any trick is considered "impossible" until it's done
I think I could do it off a drop but its a buck summersault.. a backflip is where you put your hands down.. which i dont think is all that possible.. or if it is its done with a 12" wheel 😉
One little thing that sets unicyclists apart from all other sports with tricks, we are direct drive. If one can do it, will the unicycle be able to take it to make it an actually casual trick, or will it only be able to be done once and then you'll have to fix something. -Shaun Johanneson
I think the unicycle will be fine, it will be just like a normal jump as you take the weight through your legs. I think its possible to do it off something as small as 4ft...
I really think you can land a frontflip on a uni trev, get a crashmat out and a nice 4foot ledge or higher and go for it =p i bet you can get it in a few hours of practice 😄

Hmm Well i dont have a uni to do it on.. Oh and i dont want to try front because more chance of feet slipping off pedals and smacking goolies, yeh maybe a woman trick..

I guess that would make it hard to do, just pretend the uni is there lol

get into parkour or street running or yamakaze... it will give you the confidence, and technique... you just gotta bring the crazies (but doing somethign that noone else has ever done will give you the crazies anyways)
A friend of mine at school keeps bugging me to show him someone doing a backflip on a unicycle. It got me wondering, is it possible to to a backflip on a unicycle? I don't mean the crankflip backflips either, i mean jumping up and backflipping yourself. has anyone ever heard of this being done and the person staying alive? I'd love to show him a movie with one in to show him the awesomeness of unicycling.
if you coasted down a big hill you maybe able to do it but you would need excellnt ballance and skill i'd prob say give this challange to president_luke

Not sure it's possible on a uni. I competed in gymnastics in the mid sixties and continued to dabble in the sport for a few decades more. The animated gif below was taken on my 50th birthday (nearly ten years ago). I promised the wife I'd give up gymnastics.
Sorry to be so absent these past few months. It's been winter I've been focussing on ski and snowboard racing. I just returned from the NASTAR Nationals in Steamboat, Colorado where I took 9th in skiing and 2nd in boarding.
With warm weather returning I'm looking forward to logging some serious miles on my 28" Sun this summer before turning 60 in October.

I CALL THAT A BACK HAND SPRING WHERE I COME FROM.(HANDS on ground back FLIP) That would be hard.
Jerrick discribes the backflip pretty good. I think a prepared person could pull it off with little injury and could do it with less than 3 ft drop. You can get a reasonable pull and tuck.
HOW 'BOUT THIS??
Riding forward on a 3 ft cement wall. Followed by a Backflip with a Side hop.(To do a backloop would involve stopping the uni to start the "hop" phase) Maybe add an 180? I forget what they call a back flip with a half twist on a trampoline. A Banana?
No way I'll ever try. I just trying to be a bad influence.😉 com'on do it. and ride at your own risk , Brah
