I have been out of Mtn Biking for years, and need new rims. I never liked my Sun rimswith LX hubs, and think one of these others will be my choice. Obviously I am looking at keeping cost relatively low, but not too low. Opinions anyone???

Come on, nobody has an opinion on this? I didn't mention I weigh 215, so I need sturdy rims. the local BS owner was "worried" about recommending to me some personally built XTR/mavic 717's because of my size. Any thought's??

The 517's are also fairly lightweight wheels, and as such might be a little weak for your 215 lbs. At my weight of 155 lbs, I have only had to true them twice in three years of technical XC type riding.Sorry, but I don't know about the other Mavic wheels you listed.

1. Mavic 517's with XT hubs
2. Mavic Crossride
3. Mavic CrosslandNone of the above. As mentioned already the 517 (replaced by the 717 about a year ago) is a lightweight rim, designed for XC racing. Try your XT hubs with Mavic XM819s, those will be stronger.
