  1. I recently upgraded to a trek 4900. Unfortunately the seat is intolerable. Can anyone recommend a light weight, comfortable, and durable saddle?

    Thanks

  2. Just ride harder and it'll be OK.

Years ago I bought myself a new mountain bike. Since I only used it for real mountain biking, I never gave the saddle any thought. One day I decided to use my mountain bike for a 20 mile rail-trail conversion ride. I thought that saddle was going to cut me in two!

I think that when you are doing real mountain biking you slide forward and back on the saddle and are off and back down on the saddle so frequently that you don't notice it. Road biking you have a tendency to plant yourself in the seat and might not move for an hour or more at a time.

In the interest of full disclosure I replaced my uncomfortable mountain bike saddle with the same model that I have on my road bikes. Finding the right one is pretty much a hunt and peck process. Good luck!
