Errr. What programm do i need to download/see it? What is .torrent (sorry I'm a bit useless when it comes to video formats)...

Go to Azureus.com and download the software. Then you are good to go.

I've the 1997 TDF taped live from Eurosport : remember to look for Ullrich climbing : you'll see him climbing on the steepest parts of the road back in 1997.
(on the bends, the inside line is normally steeper - Ullrich flew up these inclines).
Metronomic stuff by Ullrich.
If I recall correctly stage 10 Luchon to Andorra, Ullrich was outclimbing Pantani, Virenques, Jimenez etc.

Few days later : pantani does the double Alp D'Huez and Morzine (this his first season back after badly breaking is legs at Milan-Turin, if memory serves
me).

Thats right..
The stage to Andorra Arcalis where Ullrich took the 'gelbe trikot' was shown rather poorly in this footage. The lead group went into the climb and then in the next shot Ullrich had over a minutes lead on Virenque and Pantani... So we didnt get to see the bottom part of the climb where he blew the lead group apart.

Also we didnt get to see Riis and Ullrich leading out the sprint for Zabel. That is something you dont see these days..

We did however get to see Ullrichs bike change on the St.Etienne ITT. He went up the climb in the beginning of the course (a cat 2 IIRC) on a light climbing bike and on the top he changed to his low profile tt machine. That's something I had forgotten about. Won the stage with over 3 minutes to Virenque in second.

They were saying that it was incredible for a man so young to have so much power..... they were predicting he was going to win 28 Tour's..... it was great to watch.... metronomic was a great way to describe it... Ullrich had great respect for Pantani.... very different riders but a big mutual respect of each other... [/font]

I'll check the 1997 footage that I have, to see if there is coverage of the split in the group on the final stage to Andorra/Arcalis.
I can't recall from memory if the footage includes the split.

I do recall from that tour the TMO tactics : they used send Aldag up the road on the climbs.
Then Bolts and the other domestiques would force the pace in the lead group.
Slowly they'd whittle the lead group down.
Then Ullrich or Riis would shoot out from the bunch and accelerate away.
In the meantime Aldag would be waiting up the road and he'd shadow Ullrich and or Riis for as long as he could before falling away.
Interesting tactics.

The stage from Pau to Loudenvieile was amazing. Ullrich climbing out of the saddle is incredible too. WOW.

The Disneyland Time-Trial is absent and only the very end of the Champs-Elysees sprint is in. Still a great video though. Great to watch Ullrich, Pantani and Virenque climbing. Ullrich is amazing though. And the Saint Etienne Time-Trial is astonishing. Classic Le Tour.

Any idea on how a person can download and watch this on a Macintosh? Seems the torrent application needed is only for a PC.

Aye I know 'someone' who has it on double DVD. I'll check if he'd be bothered to RIP it and put it on the net.

Thanks for whoever posted this. Quite a good video, the climb up Alpe d'Huez was fun to watch.

windows media player etc. You need a bittorrent client (http://www.bittorrent.com/download.myt) to download it.

and if any of your media players don't play it right, and i havent DL'ed it yet to check but have had video probs. with other DL'ed vids, then get

VLC Media Player.
plays about anything.
plays vids when all the others go 'what?'

by the by...anyone have a vid of the 1996 Bjarne Riis TdF??
