    It is not.

I will explain why what anyone says to me is useless.

I will use a better example.

If you have a car, and it is not working right, and you bring it to a repair
shop, you expect it to be fixed right.
Lets for arguements sake say you car is over heating. You bring it to a
garage. Without looking under the hood, or even finding out what kind of car
it is, the mechanic says "it is your thermostat." Around $40 later, you get
the car back. It still over heats.
You bring it back in. the mechanic says "it must be the water pump". Around
$150 later, you get the car back. It still over heats.
You bring it to a different mechanic who, to your surprise says "I will
bring it in to the shop and see what is causing the problem." The mechanic
comes back out. "I am sorry to break the news to you, but, your head gasket
is blown. To fix that ti will cost about $500" You pay the money. You get
the car back. Since then, it has not over heated.

Did you need to spend that $200? No, instead of a $700 repair bill, it
    should have been $500.

That is exactly what you are all doing with me.

"it must be ___" And when I say, nope, you think I don tknow anything, or
    worse.

None of you have seen me swim. None of you know what I am doing wrong. I'll
admit, I am doing many things wrong. I do not know what. Is it my stroke? Is
it my physical fitness? Is it something else? Until you see me swimming, or
I post a video of me swimming, you cannot tell me what it wrong with my
    stroke.

I have been highly suggested to do a "metric mile" 1.6km nonstop lenghts in
a pool. It si not my fitness level that prevents me from doing this. It is
my attention level that prevents me from doing this. In a 25m pool, I have
lost cout when doing 100m. Besides, I already did 4km last summer.

Also, I am Canadian, not american. I do not know much about the imperial
system, except that it is outdated. I have actually been asked by an online
friend, why is it that on my site that I use to track my km, that I also
dont do it in Miles. Simple, I am Canadian, and unless I drive in the USA,
do not use the imperail system. I am a proud Canuck.

My rant is over, I'll go back to swimming.

Substitute back problem and doc's office and I'll understand
    perfectly.

  5. Micheal:

I will give you some blind advise like everyone else. What you need is
a girlfriend, or boyfriend, or wife or lover or someone you can spend
time with. If you have a hard time with relationships, maybe you need a
psychologist. However, why are you [censored] at us?

We didn't seek you out and force you to listen to our advise. We didn't
call you at your house or send you mail to your house or email to your
personal address. You posted questions and based on them, people told
you what they thought that you needed. If you think that we need to see
you to offer assistance, then stop asking questions or sharing your
expereinces about your difficulty swimming. otherwise, people will make
suggestions as to how to improve it.

I think that most in here are answering to you because we know that you
need help swimming and also because we know that you are lonely and
need attention. So we will continue to oblige, as long as you keep
    posting.

I hope that you feel better,

    Andres

I was not given stroke specific drills. I was given drills that are
freestyle specific, sort of. I have been given drills to get to 1.6km, or 1
mile. Last I checked, I did 4km which is over 2 miles. That is not the
    problem.

I remember someone gave you drills for butterfly. But, what is your
    point there?

Those who do, do, those who cannot, teach. I was told that many years ago.

    Micheal

I did a little search. I wanted to be sure of the meaning of certain
    word in English.

"pedant (plural: pedants): A person who is overly concerned with formal
rules and trivial points of learning. "

  7. Let's assume, Micheal, that you have asked a few clear
questions about your swimming. Then let's agree that the
responses were everything you did not want to hear and did
not solve the problems. A lot may very well have been lost
in the volume of information given here. So let's start
over because you have to admit we're patient and eager to help.

    One question at a time!

Micheal: I would like to know........(fill in blank with 20
    words or less)

Our responses, stated in 10 words or less:
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

If the first four posters don't answer your question, drop
it and go to a different problem. Of course, say thank you
    first.

You, for example cannot teach, you might be able to do, but not able to
    teach.

Actually, I have taught and coached swimming successfully. But maybe
    I've just lost it...

As a child I was diagnosed with ADD. I did not find this out untill I was 18.
I likely should have been on Ritalin or some other drug. I now have AADD,
    aduld ADD.

    ....

I am healthy. I have nothing wrong with me physically. I do not concider ADD
    a problem.

I'm guessing, but I think ADD explains why you don't respond well to
    the advice given here.

    The mind boggles... Oops, sorry.

    That's for sure.

I for one feel completely lost as to what Micheal A. wants out of
    swimming.

Rather then speak of him in the third person, I can only really say
that if it's technical information, then that's way out of my depth to
provide... or, (often) be even able to visualise when it has been
    given.

For me, when I get into the water (quite a long time now since,,,), I
simply savour the sensations provided as I swim to the other end. It
doesn't matter how I get there. The purpose (for me) is to feed off
these sensations and so, if they are not blunted/satiated by the time
I've got to the other end, then I return, again and again, doing just
such lengths until I'm no longer getting the euphoric kick out of it.
At which point, I'd try another stroke, or mode of travel which give a
different kick, yet just as pleasurable.
As you can see, counting laps, lengths, distances, doesnt come into it.

If it counts; http://homepage.eircom.net/~comicaquatic/ might better
explain what I like from swimming.

But, I''m sure I may have mentioned it before, so perhaps it's also not
    what he wants from swimming.
