Just out of curiosity..... Does anyone (aside from Micheal) still swim?
It's been a while since I've posted here regularly and recently I find it takes an effort of will even to lurk. When did this group's charter get amended to read: "trash artindale, bait martin and provide poor advice with a minimum of research"?
Any chance this group might become interesting enough, host a high enough signal:noise ratio, to encourage the return of the interesting, competent and enthusiastic swimming folk who once shared here?

No offence, but... I have a better chance off winning a gold medal in 200IM at the next olyimpics.

I have just returned to swimming from an injury/condition, cubital tunnel syndrome (like carpal tunnel, but in the elbow). I used the return to attempt a return to the bilateral breathing of my youth, and I'm delighted to say it is working. Madelaine

But how do you keep track of which side you breathed on last time? What if you make a mistake?

Good stuff! Best wishes for recovery and stroke improvement.

I find myself disappointed by how much I've allowed such useless drivel to annoy me. I can't imagine the "poster's remorse" inevitable with such [censored].

Interesting that you do ask that, since sometimes I do make a mistake and breathe on the same side twice. I look on the bright side and say, "Hey, at least I'm not drowning!" and then do better on the next lap. Madelaine
No real time intervals in the fly sets, just continue as soon as able. Try to keep some sort of form.

I usually just breathe left going down and right coming back.
I've been on the group since 1995. There are ebbs and flows.
Every once in awhile, a particular personality comes in who sort of takes on a life of his/her own. R.S.S. has been around long enough to be able to produce a retrospective style show, sort of like "The Best of Saturday Night Live."
Remember John Heenan?
If not, no worries. Just go to Google, click on "groups," and enter "John Heenan" in the search box.
You don't even need to read the threads. Just the thread titles and teaser introduction lines provide the flavor. I particularly liked the threat to sue Princeton University.
Boy, oh boy. If I'd known how permanent this stuff is and how easy it is to look it up, I'd have been a whole lot more circumspect along the way. Alas, way too late for writers' remorse.

Too well.

The trick is to use a a six-beat kick and count the kicks. Every time you hit 9, restart the count and breathe.
