I would prefer they just have oatmeal porridge or cold cereals for breakfast
and then use the savings to add a little pizzazz to the lunch menu.

My brother worked at the local detention centre while he was going to
university. He had to pay a nominal amount to eat the cafeteria food, but it
was the same food the inmates were fed. Those guys eat a lot more steaks and
roast beef than the rest of us do, more than most people can afford.

The menu is enough to keep me honest (if I had a problem being honest,
that is). Not enough veggie choices for my taste. I wonder if any
women are in there for urinating in public or if that's just a "guy
thing"? I would not survive in prison; I'd be too scared of everyone
around me. I don't imagine having an appetite either.

urinating in public, I do have a little trouble believing it is true. Some
prisoners have trouble with things like truth and reality.

park, he raped a woman, and really should be serving 25 years.

RESPONSE: Haven't got to know any one that has done time in a federal
prison yet but do know a few that spent time in a state prison including
one in Canada, and know for a fact this wasn't the normal menu served to
the inmates.

Always heard Federal Prisons were like a retreat guess this proves it.

Doesn't much surprise me. My first full time office job was within
county government. Awards ceremonies were held at the conference room,
in the county jail, there was no conference room large enough in the
150 year old courthouse. Food was catered by the prison chef. I must
say that it did look good, but I could never bring myself to eat it,
something about having to hand over my bag, car keys and identification
in trade for a badge saying "visitor" and led to the conference room by
a corrections officer with doors locking behind us, did nothing for my
appetite. The same chef a CIA grad, catered other smaller events held
within the courthouse, I was always rather surprised at how good that
food was.
