Yesterday, after a 6 hour bike ride (the weather here is just beautiful right now), I decided to pop
into the local Burger King for a quick bite to eat. I spent several minutes looking for a bike rack
or anything else I could use to lock the bike to while I ran inside, but couldn't find anything
appropriate. Eventhough this Burger King is located just two blocks from the very popular Pinellas
Trail, it has no bike rack. So, I decided to try the drive-up window instead. The young lady on the
PA system informed me that they absolutely refuse to serve customers on bicycles through their
drive-thru. I promptly stated that since no bike rack exists, I'll take my business elsewhere.
Although I give Burger King high marks for having the BK Veggie Burger, I am disgusted that they
don't want business from bicyclists. This store would be perfect for a bike rack since there are so
many cyclists in the area who use the trail on a regular basis. I don't think Burger King will
really change their policy towards the bicycling community unless they hear from thousands of
cyclists from around the country.
Please take a moment to write them at:
Burger King Consumer Relations 5505 Blue Lagoon Drive Miami FL 33126
And I'm not just picking on Burger King either. I would like to see alot more bike racks throughout
the area for cyclists to use when shopping or dining. We need to have a bicycle friendly community.
