PandoraThis is what I've heard. If you have clicked on a attachment that had the
virus in it, then it will be activated today. So hopefully, no one has
clicked on the wrong thing. This weekend will tell. If you have kept your
anti-virus up-to-date, they say that it will stop the worm."Nothing will happen until people get home from work and boot up their
machines. Half an hour later the damage starts. The user won't realize
what's going on until an hour or two later, when it's already late Friday
night."Dee Dee

As always, not only keep your A/V software definitions up to date but don't
click on attachments unless you are expecting something from someone you
know... and even, then, doesn't hurt to double-check with them. I try
always to say hey, I'm sending you a photo so the recipient won't be
surprised. And don't forget, some viruses and/or worms make it look like
*you* emailed something when in fact you didn't.I really wish these idiots would expend all that creativity towards
something positive.Jill

That's too bad. US anti-virus software suppliers have had the fix
available. This particular worm and the activation date has been in the
news for at least a month. I'm surprised that Europe doesn't have a fix
available.

PandoraIt appears that you are being rude to me. Why? You need not shout and my
reading comprehension is fairly good. You opened the topic and I
responded. Perhaps you were offended because I implied that responsible
computer users keep themselves abreast of threats and keep their software
current -- and that I find it hard to believe that Europe has no current
virus protection. As to seeing Sheldon, I have no reason to block him. I
block no one, not even those that are feather brained. I was querying his
reference to WWW being anti virus software company. Don't talk to me like
that again, I don't like it.

delete anything I don't recognize, and 99.9% of spam never gets onto my
computer anyway. I would have to have pathetic bad luck to get a
virus. My AV is updated daily and I am careful about what I allow on it
anyway. In almost 15 years of running a net connected PC, I can count
on one hand the number of times I have been alerted to a legitimate
virus.--

on the television. That can't be true. This virus was identified long
ago. All the major anti-virus products have long since
had a counter measure available. It's small potatoes as
far as viruses go.<http:[email hidden]>
Another key point: The threat a virus presents is not
necessarily proportional to the amount of media coverage
it gets. Kamasutra, aka blackmal, certainly got a lot of
media attention. That doesn't mean it's any different
from the 1000's of other viruses out there. It all makes me think of a bumpersticker I see now and
then. "Kill your television".--

I received an e-mail today that was purported from a Microsoft site. It
had 5 attachments (3 small gif's, 2 txt files, and 1 executable). My AVG
anti-virus software passed on the gif's and txt files, but found a virus in
the executable which it automatically deleted. I don't know what type of
virus it was, however.--
