Has anyone taken diuretics for a long period. How did you give it up?
how long did it take for you to restore your water balance again? I am
swollen like a ballon , inspite of dieting I have gained about 8
bounds.I appreciate if anyone could share with me their experience.

It did not take long at all for me. And I had been taking duretics for
years.A couple of questions/statements though.
#1 and MOST Important. Did you do this with Your Doctors Knowelege? If
not, Get back on them ASAP. Then contact your doctor.#2. Drink LOTS Of water. I know, it sounds nuts, but the more you drink
the more you will flush from your system.#3. Stop Eating Salt. It is the #1 cause of water retainage.
Be Careful Please.

Actually, salt intake is secondary.
It does not affect some people, only those that are salt sensitive. The #1 cause is screwed up hormones...
I get it three ways. I'm salt sensitive, hypothyroid (but that appears
to be improving now thanks to Susan) and I suffer badly from PMS bloat.Bet damned tootin' I'm staying on PRN Torosemide. ;-)
You can have my diuretics when you pry them from my cold dead
fingers......

I've used Torosemide (Demadex) for over 10 years, but I don't take it
daily. Just as needed.Increased salt intake (like if I eat out, chinese or [censored] like
commercial fried chicken) is when I need it the most. ;-)Increasing water intake if you are salt sensitive really does not help.
And can make it worse...Severe fluid retention raises my blood pressure.
Work with your doctor if you are concerned about using them, and keep up
your potassium intake. Supplement if you have to!Depending on the type of Diuretic, some doctors will prescribe a
stronger potassium supplement to be taken with the diuretic. Lasix is
one of the more famous for potassium depletion.Too low of a serum Potassium can kill you. Quickly.
